Top 10 Simple April Fools Pranks for Kids at home
1. Bathroom Sink Surprise

Bathroom Sink Surprise - Photo: Yahoo |
Fortunately, the mischief here is funnier than malicious (i.e., a different kind of waterworks). Additionally, this prank is very simple to carry out: For an unexpected sprinkler effect, simply covertly apply a small square of tape—scotch tape will work, but duct tape is preferable—to the underside of the faucet.
2. Make chocolate chip cookies

To celebrate April Fool's Day, bake some chocolate chip cookies. Naturally, though, avoid bringing up April Fool's Day in advance. Make potato mash for the cookie recipe that your kids love. Don't add spices that give the food color, such as black pepper. Put a lot of canned black beans in, and they'll resemble chocolate chips exactly. Spoonfuls of the mixture should be placed on a cookie sheet and baked for 20 minutes. Serve them as cookies and let your child try one to discover the true flavor.
3. Onion caramel lollipops

Remove the stems from a few onions. To make them smooth, peel them and trim the ends. Put craft sticks made of wood inside them. Roll the onions in the caramel mixture after making it. To evenly distribute the caramel over the surface of the onion, use a spatula. After placing them in a baking dish, cool them in the refrigerator. Your children will eagerly bite into it only to discover they don't like it.
4. Upturned glass prank

Give me a glass of water. The top of the glass should be covered with a coaster. Turn the glass over while holding the coaster. It ought to be adhered to the glass by the coaster. Maintain the glass flat and on the coaster. Pull the coaster out from under the glass quickly and keep it there. Your child will pick up the upside-down, seemingly empty glass only to watch water pour out of it. A message such as "Happy cleaning, love mommy" may also be included.
5. Short Sheets

Ah, the time-tested camp favorite. The short sheet maneuver is tried and true, and with just five minutes of cunning folding, it can be completed at any point before "lights out." Make the bed as usual with the top sheet, but this time fold it back toward the headboard rather than tucking it at the foot of the bed to create the "short sheet," which is essentially a small sleep sack.
Because, let's be honest, April Fool really isn't worth upsetting your toddlers' delicate bedtime routine, this one will work best for slightly older kids.
6. Sleep Time Switcharoo

Sneak into your child's room the night before April 1 and make some adjustments that will surprise them the next morning. Put underwear on the dolls, flip the chair over, or even switch sleeping siblings into each other's beds. They'll experience a silly surprise when they awaken, and they'll be prepared for a joyous and prank-filled April Fool's Day.
7. Totally Buggin’

This April 1st hoax is as old as they come, but it never gets old! To make the kids' cold beverage freak them out, buy a pack of plastic bugs and freeze them into ice cubes. (Using plastic roaches will earn you bonus disgust points.) Placing plastic bugs anywhere around the house where children will squeal in delight upon finding them also works for a cheap thrill.
8. Fake a Steak (With Faux Fries)

Serve a dinner-themed dessert! Cut a large slab of chocolate ice cream from the carton, wrap it in plastic wrap, and use your hands to form it into the shape of a steak. To create the appearance of grill marks, freeze the ice cream until it is firm, then use a skewer to draw lines into it. The lines are then covered in chocolate wafer crumbs. For the fries, use a crinkle cutter to cut frozen pound cake into sticks. Toss with melted butter and bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes, or until golden. Add strawberry jam to the dish.
9. Shower shampoo prank

When your young victim is in the shower, you can try this. Step in from behind holding a bottle of shampoo as they begin shampooing their hair. Put more shampoo on your child's head from behind once they have lathered their hair with shampoo and the shower has almost completely removed the foam. Try not to laugh as your child gradually becomes irritated because the shampoo won't rinse off.
10. The Sponge Cake

Do any members of your family enjoy sweets? For them, this trick is ideal. Purchase a container of icing and sprinkles, as well as a few fresh, clean sponges. (If your child will be tempted to taste the fake treat, be sure to look for natural sponges without added chemicals or cleaning solution.)
Then, using the sponges, put together a "layer cake," with icing between each sponge and another layer on top. Sprinkle it all over, then let someone try to eat some of it with a fork while it's still on the counter. They'll be so shocked when it bounces off the "sponge cake!"
11. Make a move while they sleep

Children who have trouble falling asleep will love this April Fool's joke. Sneaking in at night, you can rearrange their furnishings, swap out their comforter, or even switch your kids' beds. They'll awaken wondering precisely what transpired while they were sleeping!
12. Set up a balloon surprise

Set up a balloon surprise |
For kids who enjoy exciting surprises, this April Fools' prank will "wow" them when they awaken. Fill the pocket it creates with inflated balloons and tape several wide pieces of plastic wrap across your child's door. An enormous balloon explosion will be waiting for your child when they open their door in the morning.
