Chelsea and Tottenham clash in the first meeting between two members of the Premier League's 'big six' this season on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.
Both sides got their campaigns off to winning starts last weekend, but the contrasting nature of those victories was in line with the broad moods surrounding the clubs heading into 2022/23.
Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea were forced to grind out a 1-0 win at Everton after Jorginho scored the only goal from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time, while Spurs were rampant, tearing Southampton apart in a 4-1 win at a buoyant Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The first ‘Big 6’ encounter of the season is here as Chelsea host Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. This match will end up having an effect on the final league standings come May 2023, with both London rivals fighting it out for a place in the Top 4.
Chelsea began their new season with a 1-0 win at Goodison Park against Everton and their former manager Frank Lampard. The Blues secured victory with a stoppage-time first-half penalty from Jorginho, who buried it in the bottom-left corner. The Stamford Bridge outfit were far from their best as they struggled to break down a resilient Toffees side. New signings Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly had a great first outing after standing out from the rest of their teammates.
Tottenham on the other hand were at their lethal best after punishing Southampton time and again on the counter. The Lilywhites ran out 4-1 victors after going a goal down in the opening 12 minutes. To everyone’s surprise, neither of the 4 goals involved either Harry Kane or Heung-Min Son, with Son’s sole involvement being an assist for Eric Dier’s goal.
This fixture has all the material to be a Premier League classic given all the buildup this match has had. Both teams will also have the added pressure of losing and slipping up to their top four rivals, which will make this encounter all the more interesting.
Chelsea and Leicester face off for the third time this month on Sunday and the evidence suggests Thomas Tuchel could be leaving Stamford Bridge the happier of the two managers this weekend.
The Blues have seen their Premier League title challenge collapse over the last month or so, with a 12-point chasm between themselves and Manchester City and their cushion inside the top four reduced to eight points.
However, they remain a formidable outfit with just one defeat in their last 13 competitive games and they haven’t lost a home game since Manchester City visited in September. Not only that, but they have won all three of their meetings with Spurs this season and haven’t conceded a single goal in the process.
Granted, Tottenham will have received a welcome confidence boost after their sensational last-ditch turnaround at Leicester on Wednesday but their 3-0 aggregate loss to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final will weigh heavily on the mind and that could prove the deciding factor at Stamford Bridge.
Spurs have also only won five of their 15 competitive away games this season and just two of their last six, so it’s no surprise to see them as big underdogs here.
Chelsea’s January wins against Spurs aren’t the only successes the Blues have enjoyed over their London rivals recently, either. In fact, they haven’t lost in normal time to Spurs in ten games and have won eight of those, so I’m backing a Chelsea win on Sunday.
The goals have dried up for Tuchel’s side, though. They have scored just two goals in their last three matches and, after three wins to nil against Spurs this season, a 1-0 correct score prediction appeals.
Returning to the 2021/22 season, Chelsea completely overwhelmed Tottenham at the face. Accordingly, the Blues won all 4 London derby against Tottenham in the Premier League and the British League Cup. Looking broader, Chelsea had 12 confrontations without losing to the North London team - won 10 and drew 2.
Based on the above -mentioned confrontation achievement, NHM is in favor of the ability of Tuchel's teachers and teachers to continue to win in the clash in the second round of the Premier League this weekend. However, based on the actual situation, the Stamford Bridge team is the one who has to worry about the ability to taste defeat.
Remember, Tottenham entered this match with exciting performance when he won 4-1 against Southampton in the opening match. Notably, the "rooster" entered this season with a quality squad when there was a series of additional summer.
Across the yard, Chelsea started hard with a minimum victory of 1-0 against Everton. If monitoring, experts easily see the machine of coach Tuchel operating is not really smooth. Especially, the three rookie Sterling, Koulibaly and Cucurella still need more time to integrate with Chelsea's play.

Kalidou Koulibaly was substituted during the second half at Everton, but Tuchel confirmed the former Napoli defender was merely suffering from cramp. That means Marc Cucurella might have to wait a little longer for a full debut, especially after Ben Chilwell impressed on his first start since suffering a serious knee injury last November.
Tuchel might be tempted to reconfigure his forward line, in shape if not in terms of personnel after Kai Havertz failed to make much of an impression on the left of the front three on Merseyside.
Chelsea predicted lineup (3-4-3): Mendy (GK) — Azpilicueta, Silva, Koulibaly — James, Jorginho, Kante, Chilwell — Mount, Sterling, Havertz
Five of Antonio Conte's close-season signings had to be content with a place on the bench against Southampton and the boss is unlikely to see any reason to change after such an emphatic display.
Richarlison is available after suspension but is likely to join the substitutes given how lethal Dejan Kulusevski, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane looked in tandem.
Tottenham predicted lineup (3-4-3): Lloris (GK) — Romero, Dier, Davies — Emerson, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Sessegnon — Kulusevski, Kane, Son
Chelsea won all four of the meetings between the sides across all competitions last season, scoring eight unanswered goals.
Three of those wins came against Conte's Spurs in January, with a 2-0 league win at Stamford Bridge following the two-legged Carabao Cup semi-final. However, the sense is that Tottenham have taken great strides since then, while Tuchel's Blues have lost some of the spark that made them European champions a little over a year ago.

We're backing this game to end in a draw as it has done in three of the last six competitive and non-competitive meetings between these two clubs. Chelsea are 2-0 and haven't lost any of their last five encounters with Spurs and, of course, have outplayed their hosts in all departments so far this season. Tottenham have only lost one of their last nine home games in all competitions and Chelsea have only lost one of their last ten away trips, so you can see why we're backing a draw on Wednesday.
We're predicting that both teams will score in the 2nd leg as both clubs have found clean sheets harder to come by of late. Both teams have found the back of the net in three of Tottenham's and four of Chelsea's last six outings in all competitions. Both teams were involved in FA Cup action at the weekend and both teams scored in each of those cup ties.

Chelsea have many players in their current squad, who on their day can turn a match on its head. Even after departures from the attacking department in the form of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku added with the fact that they lost both Rudiger and Christensen on free transfers, the Blues have enough in their tank.
Although they were not sharp on the opening day against Everton, one player who meant business was summer signing Raheem Sterling. The English winger started as a left-sided forward for Chelsea and constantly rotated positions with Kai Havertz and Mason Mount. He was a constant threat with both in the buildup phases as well as on the counter. This attribute of Sterling can come in handy when they face Spurs who most likely will sit back and soak in pressure in the hope of attacking on the counter.
