Many require visitors to complete a health form and present a recent negative Covid-19 test result. Many also demand proof of full vaccination, and some places, like Croatia, Ireland and Austria, are requiring booster shots or second doses within a specified period of time. People who have recently visited or traveled through countries with high numbers of Covid-19 cases may be denied entry or be subject to additional restrictions.

American tourists may enter Austria if they have proof of full vaccination or proof of recent recovery from Covid; in addition, all travelers must provide either proof of having received a booster dose or a negative result from a P.C.R. test that is no more than 72 hours old. Anyone arriving without an appropriate test result or proof of a booster shot is required to self-quarantine until they obtain a negative P.C.R. result. Children under 12 are exempt from these requirements if they are traveling with fully vaccinated or recovered adults. Unvaccinated tourists will not be allowed entry, with the exception of pregnant women and those who cannot receive the vaccine for medical reasons; people in those categories must provide a medical certificate and a negative P.C.R. test result. Once arrived, visitors are required to show proof of vaccination or recovery to access bars, restaurants, ski lifts, gyms and more. The C.D.C. risk assessment for Covid-19 is Level 4: Very high.

Argentina

Fully vaccinated Americans may visit Argentina if they present a negative result from a P.C.R. test taken no more than 72 hours before departure. Children under 6 and travelers who can document their recovery from Covid-19 in the previous 90 days are exempt from the pretest requirement. Arriving passengers must also undergo a test between the third and fifth day after arrival and avoid mass events and indoor social activities until they receive a negative result from their on-arrival test. Travelers under 18 are not required to show proof of vaccination. Visitors must also fill out an electronic sworn statement within 48 hours of traveling and purchase insurance that covers Covid-19 medical treatment. Unvaccinated adult visitors are allowed entry only if they qualify for a handful of specific exceptions. The C.D.C. risk assessment for Covid-19 is Level 4: Very high.

Arriving passengers are required to provide a negative P.C.R result that is no more than 48 hours old. Children under 12 are exempt from this requirement. Or they can get tested at the border and head into quarantine, or they can choose not to get tested and enter a ten-day quarantine for the duration.

Everyone arriving for tourist reasons must also show proof of paid accommodation for the entirety of their stay upon arrival, vaccinated or not. This is non negotiable.

Vaccinated travelers must obtain a mobility pass before traveling — a process that may take more than four weeks.
